光り輝く　Sri Lanka

「スリランカ」は、シンハラ語で「光りかがやく島」を意味する。
インド洋の十字路であるこの島は、古くからアラブの商人や西洋の国々が交差してきた、深い歴史の地層を抱えている。
シンハラとタミル、そして仏教、ヒンドゥー教、イスラム教、キリスト教の祈りがモザイクのように入り混じる大地。
深い霧に包まれた山岳部の茶園から、豊かな波が漁民を潤す海岸部まで、そこには複雑な歴史のうねりを背負いながらも自然と共に生きる、人々の静かな営みがある。
様々なルーツと信仰が美しく響き合うこの島を歩き、私は彼らの日常に宿る、多様で豊かな「光」を記録した。

In Sinhala, Sri Lanka means “the resplendent island.”
Situated at the crossroads of the Indian Ocean, this land holds deep strata of time—a shore where ancient traders and distant empires once crossed paths. Here, Sinhala and Tamil, alongside the prayers of four great faiths, weave a quiet and luminous mosaic.
From the mist-bound tea gardens of the misted highlands to the tide-washed coasts of the fishermen, life moves in a soft, unbroken rhythm—carrying the weight of history while breathing alongside nature.
Walking this island of layered roots, I set out to capture the multifaceted light gently resting within their ordinary days.
